Discovery Technologies is an impact business. Originally established as the innovation division of Ocean Discovery Yachts, Discovery Technologies’ mission is to accelerate innovation in ‘green marine’ across a wide range of marine industry sectors.
We incubate, develop and commercially exploit marine technology, especially with a strong sustainability dimension. We build. We prototype. We test in the real marine environment.
We are working with local partners and stakeholders to develop a physical, waterside “Green Marine” centre a unique sustainable marine technologies R&D, testing, incubation and showcasing hub.
We curate and support a digital platform/community in sustainable marine tech & innovation. We want to build a useful repository of carefully sourced intel, insight, and resources
We come from the marine world, the tech world, the automotive sector, the sports industry. From design, manufacturing and marketing, from high performance, commerce and academia.
We are building a network of carefully selected collaborators, including entrepreneurs, marine brands, designers, engineers, naval architects, ocean scientists and technicians: specialist university departments, marine colleges; laboratories, workshops and manufacturers, across almost all aspects of marine and maritime. Discovery Technologies is building a ‘MDN’ – a multi-disciplinary network.
Common in the healthcare world, a multi disciplinary team approach is often critical to the achievement of effective, speedy outcomes. We believe this is much needed in sustainable marine and maritime decarbonisation. The health of the ocean, our businesses and ultimately our planet depends on true collaborations, and the shared expertise and combined energies of passionate practitioners focussed on commercially sustainable outcomes. Our sister company, Ocean Discovery Yachts, which owns the Discovery yacht brand, is designing and will be building a new range of blue water sailing yachts, and upcycling existing Discovery Yachts (reDiscovery).
